Show Quality? Or just pretty HQ?

Got a silkie hen 3 months old I would like to show chickens but don't think she is SQ I also have a 3 month old roo and am almost positive he isn't. He is bearded and she is not. Tips and advice?

The cockerel is not good show quality. His crest is too small, comb/face color is too reddish, and his type (at least in the photo) doesn't appear outstanding.

The pullet appears better quality, though her crest is small, as well. And, she could use fluffier "silkier" feathers and a rounder body. Still, if you're not showing at open/club shows (instead county fairs or 4-H shows), she would be an okay choice.

With that said, it is hard to tell quality from photos. There are many defects or disqualifications that can hide in photos; handling a bird is the best way to measure its quality.
