I just hatched out 7 chocolate showgirls from my chocolate pen. Fun part is I do not have any showgirls in that pen. These chicks are my first batch from the pen and I bought the Chocolate parents as eggs last year from a breeder who does sex-linked and who also has showgirls in her line. My two roosters are a black split choc and a frizzle choc; the hens are a solid choc, split black, and two blue splashes. There were no “oops” moments from my calico rooster, totally kept in a separate pen and besides the babies are all choc.
How in the world did I get 7 chocolate showgirls without any showgirl parents???
Can the Na gene be expressed from the parents who carry it recessively? Is that a thing??? Thanks!
