Shredder gene in Lavender Orpington

Also the two that don't express the gene should be bred together, you'll increase the probability of getting smooth feathered birds over shredded birds. You can then breed the successive generations until you have eliminated the recessive shredder gene. Takes time but the end result will be worth it and you'll have accomplished something you in which you can take pride.

Correct. Since they are probably related it is likely they'll carry the gene.
For the selling question... well, in truth, I've never seen a lavender Orpington with good feather quality so I'm starting to question their very existence.
I was just looking at this. I have 2 beautiful Lavender Orpingtons. One has the shredded gene (Lavender), which is why I was investigating. Then I have my girl (Janice), and she looks like everyone else feather wise. So I found this interesting.
