Sick Bantam rooster

Our little chicken died yesterday. He had stopped eating and drinking again. We were so concerned that we found another vet that would see chickens. She asked us to leave him for a couple of hours. They were going to put a tube down his throat to give him food and fluids and do an x-ray to try to figure out what was wrong. They also did another fecal float.
After about 1 1/2 hrs, she called and said he had a seizure and passed while they were working on him. He was just so weak, he couldn't make it.
She said the x-ray showed that his heart was very enlarged, so much so that there was no room for his air sacs to expand so he couldn't breath well. This would explain why he wasn't eating or drinking and why he had so much trouble breathing when he ate or drank.
He has been cyanotic, on and off for a couple of years now. It never really seemed to affect his health though. He always ran around our farm and stayed right with us with no issues until the last month. We can only guess he must have had some respiratory problem all this time that caused his heart to enlarge. They also told us the fecal float showed he had no parasites.
He was very close to us and we will miss him very much. Thanks again for everyone's help with him.

I’m so sorry. I know how it feels, you wanted to make his life better.
Dont second guess yourself, I know you did everything you could. Loosing someone you love is the hardest thing ever. Your sweet rooster is in a better place now.
