One of my ~2 year old Leghorns has diarrhea and stopped laying about 5 days ago, and she used to lay everyday. I did find a large soft shelled egg in the coop yesterday, though, that I assume is hers. I also noticed my ~4 month old Silkie has what looks to be bloody poop. I found 2 spots yesterday and 2 more spots today. They both seem to be acting totally normal though! Should I treat for Coccidiosis just in case?

Also, I did get two new hens but I think it was after my Leghorn had diarrhea and stopped laying and only one day before I noticed the bloody poop. The new hens have been in the run and coop but in an enclosure.

Are you feeding layer feed or all flock feed? Do the hens have crushed oyster shell in a separate container for extra calcium? Treating for coccidiosis with Corid would be safe to do because of the bloody droppings. Do you have any pictures of the poops? Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid Corid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. The chickens must drink plenty of the treated water. You can give the silkie 0.2 ml of undiluted Corid orally for 3 days in addition to the treated water. Could you take in some fresh droppings to your vet on Monday to look for worms and coccidiosis?

I’m feeding starter/grower feed with separate bowls for grit and crushed oyster shell. Here are some pictures of the silkie’s poops, the Leghorn’s looks much better today 🤞🏻

I didn’t see any bloody poop for the last few days, but then today saw 2 more! I don’t know if it’s blood or what, but it’s red. It’s from my rooster and one of my Leghorns (the one that’s had diarrhea). She did lay an egg last night but right in her poop. The Silkie’s poop looks good. They’re getting Corid in their water, today is day 4.
