I have 8 week old silkies and I'm wondering if anyone can help me determine if they are hens or roos. One is white, two of them are splash, one is buff and the other is black.

So pretty!!

If they are pure silkies as they sure appear to be, nothing is definative at 8 weeks. Even 10 weeks it would be now.

I could say I see streamers or walnut combs at 8-10 weeks and a couple months later find out they're a hen, which I have recently done. I have 8 six months olds and I was wrong on half, but I sure thought I could figure it out raising silkies this long. Nope!

We can either DNA test them which runs about $15 each, or we can all just guess for the fun of it, or you wait until they are around 5 months old to really know for sure. ☺️
