Hello This is my first time to have chickens. I have 6 chicks all are approx 2 1/2 months old. 2 Silkies I don't know gender. They do not have the "streamers" on top of their heads, and they don't have comb or wattles showing yet. They are however chest bumping only with each other. Just wondering if hens ever chest bump to determine their place in flock ?

Pullets will chest bump, too, with each other and with cockerels. I see nothing saying cockerel on these ones so far. The main thing now will be combs. They are somewhat concealed by the crests in silkies, but if you catch them you can dig in there and get a good look at those combs. If they're small or flat then there is a good chance you have pullets. If they're larger then they could be cockerels. Bearded silkies won't have wattles, so you won't get any help from trying to look at that.

Hello. This one is almost 4 months old now, still wondering About gender.
