Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I candled eggs my turkey is sitting on. there is at least 1 silkie. rats destroyed at least 9 eggs first night. they all but 1 were developing. if I remember well I put other 3 freshly laid silkie eggs when I cleaned the nest on day 2.

how many remain? Can you add more in the meantime?

Well my silkie and polkie are broody, BFF broody girls.

Here they are refusing to move..


Here they are, angry sunning..


Then breaking out of the broody trance, enjoying some water, peacefully..


Or not so peacefully, once Elsa had any say in it..

I'm seriously thinking about changing the farm name from Fort McCluck to Butts and Bonnets! I'm getting more and more babies with the fluffy butts and head dresses now.. @Gammas Bearded Babies the first guy (F2) is all grown up now.. Should have a little bit of beard if the mother has 2 copies. Bearding is a semi dominant gene. Many of the hatchery easter eggers show one copy.

I don't want to disturb broody. I am sending at least 10 other eggs to a friend to incubate them. a few other already under another's friend broody.
