Hi I recently bought a couple of Silkies one of each sex. The female has a purplish crest and is stating to change to a pink or red colour. She has not started laying yet does the chang of colour mean she will lay soon????????

Moved it here for ya!

A silkie comb should be mulberry to black--the darker the better. Pink or red would be a DQ, and is unlikely to have anything to do with laying.

How old is your pullet? Generally don't expect silkies to lay until they are 8 months or older.

Hi thx for your reply I'm not sure how old she is but I do know that the roo we got with her is already getting to know my other girls lololol. I'll have to keep an eye on her. you said the comb should be dark does that mean that it was a lighter colour and changes as she matures?? Sorry I've not had silies before.
