"Hello, my name is Kate and I am 18. For my birthday (in april) my stepdad who has owned chickens before bought me a coop and two white splash silkies. Recently we had a tornado that destroyed the chicken coop, but the chickens survived so we bought a new and bigger coop/house.
He has also added 4 of his young hens as well (smaller than the silkies incase you were wondering) in the past month!
yesterday I bought a roo for my silkies; a Silkie/Frizzle named Ganon. He is absolutely gorgeous.

Hello everyone, I have decided to dedicate my own thread to my chickens and chicken related life! I shall start off with old pictures I have, from oldest to newest:

This was the day I picked up my Silkies, Marshmallow and Jin. I got them April 2nd I believe.

The story of Lucky
Before I got my two pet chickens, my stepdad had decided to take in a group of chicks from a friend. He already had chickens at the time, this wasn't his first encounter with chickens. One of these chicks, was very Ill, he gave it to me to practice animal rehabilitation which I wanted to major in. Lucky was extremely weak, and could not walk. His siblings would try to step on him and kill him. His legs were splayed, so we did the ol' fashion bandaid and straw trick and fed him with a dropper every so hours. I tried to push him to walk and he was getting better, but he ended up just not making it and passing away after a week of constant care.

Pet Rooster:
I was at the fleamarket yesterday, and bought a handsome frizzle/sizzle Rooster since we had just bought a bigger coop because my other one was destroyed by a tornado. He is so sweet, he has the stereotypical Silkie temperament, he loves to be pet and scratched! He has beautiful amber eyes as well! I hope him and my Silkies make adorable chickies! I named him Ganon, which is a reference to a large Zelda character who is male with black with red armor!
