Hi, this is my first year breeding and hatching oegb bantam chicks. This sweetie is 5 days old and I'm trying to decide if it's silver or golden duckwing. I bred a silver duckwing roo over a BBR hen. To my understanding all the silver duckwings from this cross would be pullets and the Golden's would be cockerels. Problem is I can't tell the difference between the colors in the chicks. Any suggestions as to what I should look for? Thanks!

Via eyestripe, your chick appears to be a male.

Silver is an incompletely dominant gene; it's very, very hard to tell silver from golden until they're adults. Sometimes, you can't tell even then.

EDT: Duckwing OEGBs are autosexing. Males should have paler eyestripes. However, I'm not sure how true that's going to hold with a cross-colours mix.

Thank you

Thank you! I agree that the eyestripes suggest male... just wasn't sure since it is a cross. Thanks for the input.
