Single chicken

Can I keep a single chicken happily. Do they get lonely or are they happy in their own company?

No. A chicken likes to be part of a flock. Giv it a couple of friends.

It's true, chickens are flock animals and a few more hens will be more than welcome- once they settle down. They may well fight for a few weeks, so just supervise a bit.

I like to put them in pens/cages next to each other for 2 weeks, so they get to know each other, before I put them all together.
