Hi Folks,
What have you all decided on for a small solar setup for you're coops, I'm in the process of building a new coop and want to run a solar setup thru the winter if I can for just a heated waterer instead of running an extension cord across the yard again.

You generally need more power to run a heater than solar can provide.
Can you run a circuit to the coop or is it too far away?

I guess it’s 50ft I could bury an outside line...but it’s the digging that’s my problem, I’m in MA so it’s all granite rocks everywhere I put a shovel in the ground, I didn’t realize those waterers took that much juice. Thx

You might try consulting a licensed electrician. Electricity around chickens is tricky and scary. I keep the waterers running the old fashion way by changing out the water frequently on sub-freezing days. It's good exercise.
