Spice other than Nest and Rest

I have 4x8 and nest box is inside so 4x7
I made roost of two 48” 2x4 with thin wall on nest side and another on side to go out to run, it seems sorta to big and like only a lane to get to nest or roost and not much other room
Think 7 chickens
I guess question is, do the need much room other than the nest or roost space?

A secure run area for daytime would be good....or are you planning on free ranging.

8’x8’ half is coop with run under coop and run entire other half
So sleep coop run the rest
Also door in run to range in fenced
areas that i’ll rotate
I’m in central OH

And i am just wondering about the inside of the coop; i think i will redo it, a littke smaller

I would not make it smaller.
Crowded chickens peck each other, sometimes badly.

Besides, you might want more chickens some day.

It is advisable to provide 10 square feet of run space per chicken to keep them happy and healthy.

I have a coop the same size (4x8), don't mount the roost too high. it's kind of narrow for them to fly up the roost unless you make a ramp. With a waterer and feeder inside, it's kind of crowded. Our young batch (4 chickens) grew up in this coop, but they no longer roost at night in this coop, prefer to roost in their "living room", a covered, secured run (8x8). Can't reason with them!
