Sponge for lockdown

Tomorrow is day 18 for my eggies! I will take the turner out and turn it off. My nurture 360 incubator drops humidity at night. I want to maintain it at 65%-70% during lockdown. Can I place a sponge on the turner tray? Not in the water wells underneath. I don't want to take the eggs out and want to replace the sponge as needed. Will the sponge be ok to be on the tray near the eggs? Maybe I can take it out when they start to hatch so that the sponge doesn't affect hatching?
