Staggered Hatch - Question on hatched chicks

I have chicks hatching today (12 eggs and. I think 6 will hatch) and 15 due the 20th in the same incubator. Not ideal, but we are making it work. The hatching eggs are laying on the grate and the other 15 are in cartons at the back of the incubator. So far one egg in the first batch has hatched, and the chick is climbing all over the eggs in the cartons. Any suggestions for keeping it from pooping on the second batch of eggs?

This is a tip from another BYC user... she used one of those berry baskets that strawberries come from over the top of her eggs to separate them by kind. Something like that, which will allow air to pass through would be perfect
