Starter feed for chicks over 6 weeks?

My chicks are now 6 weeks old and I * should * switch them to a grower feed, but I've got a LOT of chick starter feed still. Can I just mix some of the starter feed with the layer feed and give that to them? Or add grains to their starter feed?

Can they get over medicated by continuing to eat the starter feed? (I didn't really want their feed medicated, but there was no other kind of starter feed available)

I'm hoping not to have to buy the grower feed when I've got so much starter feed still.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I don't think it will hurt. If you had a broody mama hen she can eat the chick starter as well.
I switched types of feed according to how the bags ran out. Just get some of the grower before you completely run out, and mix it in for a few days.

Same thing with layer when they get to about 20 weeks, instead of buying 50 more pounds of grower you probably just want to get layer and mix it in.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep feeding it and maybe add some of the grains that I have for my ducks too.
