Hello fellow Nova Scotian! I'm new here too... My first chicks are now 6 weeks old and living in a 4 x 4x 4 ft plywood box in the middle of my living room lol while I work on their outside run (the box will be taken apart and reassembled in an old outbuilding at the back of my yard but until I get it predator-proofed, they are house-birds :D

I live near Wolfville. You?

Welcome to BYC! X2 on Sarah's advice to make sure its predator proof. Good luck in making your Little Tykes playhouse into a chicken coop.

Hello and thank you to all of you. Life has been crazy with a wedding for my eldest daughter, another one moving, etc. I did not convert a playhouse as I could not make it as predator proof as it required with the type of house
I have. Instead I have a cedar building. I will put pics soon. I have two Sicilian Buttercup hens, for now, no too. I find these girls do not like being confined, so I let them out to run for a bit everyday and them seem much happier. Any advice?
