Just wondering if it's normal for chickens to prefer staying in the coop? Mine are 7 weeks been in the coop for 2 weeks- weather has varied, sometimes cold sometimes very nice, like today- I notice my chickens rarely come into the run and when they do it's because I am out their talking to them- as soon as they hear me they come running, but soon after I leave they return to the coop-
The run is sand, so not much to dig at and their food and water is inside the coop, do you think this could be why? I am putting in piles of leaves every couple of days and they do like that. they seem to prefer in inside dust bathing in shavings etc.
