One of my quails, Skittles, is a small slightly skittish female who got 'beat up' by the roo she was with but now lives happily with our cuddly tame boy indoors and another female quail (a big fat hen named ChiChi).
Anyways Skittles was the last to start laying but she would do the egg song after ChiChi laid her egg. Now she lays her own and she continues to sing long after it's done!
Well tonight was really strange! She was standing over her egg singing to it and even bending down putting her ear to it like she thinks their is a chick inside and she's singing it a lullaby!! It was so funny, sad and cute all rolled into one!
And she was singing in her roo's ear and pecking him when he was trying to sleep near her egg as if saying 'hey, pay attention! That's my egg! Look how clever i am and admire it! Now mister!!'
