Styrofoam insulation

They would tear that exposed insulation up. You don't really need insulation, as the chickens have very good insulation of their own. But, if you are going to have an insulated coop, you will have to have interior walls. You may get away with heavy cardboard.

I wouldn't be concerned if walls were wood, but we used recycled metal siding. There is no barrier between them and the outside except a sheet of metal. Too cold conductive. :(
Guess we have some planning to do!
 
It seems to me that chickens LOVE pecking styrofoam! Mine I have to run off every time they get at any type of foam; it's like a magnet to them. I have never witnessed one of them actually eat the stuff though. Just seem to be destructive and fascinated with foams.
