Is this normal? Our momma hen hatched out her first chick yesterday... (She's a chicken, we just put pheasant eggs under her when she went broody.) And today, after the little guy fluffed out I went to go see him and he is crazy hyper! Our baby chickens never did this, usually they wanted back under momma after I picked them up for the first time, but this little guy just ran away from her, chirping loudly! He looks healthy to me, is he just happy or something?
