As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, I am planning to write and produce a book specifically for novice backyard chicken keepers on how to diagnose, treat and prevent chicken diseases.
I'm inspired to write this book because of the lack of medical options for chooks we have here in Australia. When I was growing up, we didn't have any avian specialists near us. We basically had to work it out on our own by trail-and-error.
Nothing much still hasn't changed; we do have two avian specialists in Queensland. but they're too far away to get to. Besides, you don't want to be stressing out a poorly, sick chook by travelling 2-3 hours just to see the vet. The stress alone can kill them.
It would be good to hear your opinions and suggestions for the book. I want to make it as simple as possible, so even the beginners can understand it clearly. I would like to include both conventional and home-made remedies and cures for the illnesses where possible too.
