Not sure why my question didn't come up but it was...I went out to feed my chickens today and found my 5 month old rooster humping a stick. Is that normal?
Could it have anything to do with the fact that I just re-homed his two brothers? Ever since they left he's been after the hens like crazy but I just figured that was hormones. I just don't get the stick thing. And the kicker is I raised him for the most part in our house (long story) so when I'm around him he still acts like my "baby". He coos, follows me everywhere, purrs when I hold him or rub him under the chin and the latest...he quickly stomps his feet if I don't pick him up.
I had a rooster that 'loved' an umbrella I left outside. It's strange but once they can get to the hens they usually stay to mounting them over other things, lol.
