The story of how I got my fuzzy nuggets!

Good! I only have 4;

Ebony (my profile pic), she is 32 weeks, just started laying, silkie x, very shy and sweet, but kinda hates me.

Chai, who is 32 weeks also, not laying yet, but any day now I’ll see squatting 🤞! She is a gold spangled hamburg bantam x. She is extremely derpy and small, yet Chonky.

Kiwi, 28 weeks, not laying. She is a polish or spitzhauben cross. Kiwi is a preposterously sassy nugget, she despises me.

Poppy, the cockerel. 32 weeks, not yet crowing, but doing.......other rooster things with my hen OwO. Poppy is sweet but VERY timid, he’s been having some breathing troubles lately :(

I started with 6, but two passed away from neurological conditions when they were young 😔

Now I have the fluffy nuggs as well, who knows, perhaps I’ll have a broody hatch some Dutch bantams or australorps in the autumn or next spring. I'm already T E C H N I C A L L Y 2x over the council limit....but...........chickens are measured by the heart, not numbers 💕
I freaking love the names U.U 😍 I wish I could have that many chonkers lol. Also can't stop looking at the baby chick pictures, they are wayy too cute

and lmaoo who is going to randomly inspect your house for to many chickens anyways? I think you'll be good from the council -^-

Yep, as long as the neighbors don’t complain when Poppy crows :0

HELLOOOOOO I'm back

I thought I'd lost all contact with the seller, I couldn't find his Gumtree account, but then I found another one which was also him, we called him up, and he said we could change them over soon. They are now old enough but there's the 25K restriction on how far we can go and this guy's place is about 27 km, so I have to wait until that goes away... could be a couple of weeks....but I'm really excited! I'm allowed to change them over for any breed I want, i'll just have to see what he has!

We have 3 girls, 4 boys.

How’s your flock doing?
Big changes. We lost stegz a few months ago, and i hadn't recovered. All of the boys went to an awesome farm mid-late last year...we lost little Pixie just a few weeks ago and I'm devastated. I've been dreaming about her and having meltdowns most nights. We drove 4 hours and found ten silkie chicks. Some are bearded! They are over 10 days old now. I'm concerned that some are cockerels.

Ebony is still my gentle alpha hen

The chicks are about 2 weeks, super active and chirpy. They are currently living in a brooder that is much too small for them as I'm hoping to have finished their new one today. I learnt Wood & Composites over zoom last year, can you tell?? 😅
