I have a 6 week old Olive Egger that has a tiny yellow comb it has not grown much since it first pop up. But the chick has small red wattles. They are not too big. But I am thinking it’s a roo but I’m just confused as to why the comb isn’t red. ***The pictures make the comb look red but it is a pale yellow/pink color. ***

Do you have anymore pictures? Some of my young pullets had red wattles but as long as they stay flat and thin and don’t start growing too fleshy then they’re no cause for concern

Do they always stay that dark shade of red? Pullets flash red when they are excited. Mine do it when I come to see them. But the comb would change color too.

I just added some more pictures that first picture was from a week ago. But hasn’t changed too much but the pictures make the comb look more red than it is

I was just outside and put the chick on the ground to take the pictures and I think it got a bit lighter but I’m not really sure. S/he was Excited to be eating grass

When chicks/chickens get excited, stressed, hot their wattles/comb get red due to blood circulation. When pullets/hens lay their combs get red but as looking at your (1) chick, it's possible it's a pullet ... going by the size. Repost pics at 8 - 12wks.

will do thank you! I thought I would be easy going about this waiting game but I bought 3 chicks all different breeds for those breeds and I already have a rooster who is 1.5 so I don’t think I will be able to keep if it’s a roo unfortunately. But I am trying my best at waiting but it’s so hard!
