expanding my current 4x6 out to 4x8 and going a little bit taller any tips are appreciated

current coop and design for new one are attached

the front wall will be two pieces both hinge at the top to swing up and hook to rafter in run for cleaning.

will also add a window on the side next to nest box.not sure to go single or double paned window up top, theyll swing out for more ventilation

Several suggestions:
Make roof overhang by at least 8", 12" would be better.
Leave eaves open for ventilation.

Have roof overhangs on nests too.
Egg collecting door on back/side of nests instead of top.

Make added window(s) top hinged so they can be open during rain.

What is your climate?

Just so you know (we found out the hard way) possums can get through the lattice work holes. Other than that and @aart suggestions, looks and sounds great. Congrats. :highfive:

Yea I was planning on doing bigger over hangs and adding those current roof panels to the run to go a bit longer making it an 8'x16' run for 6-8 birds that will be able to free range almost daily. As for the windows, I agree I want to do a top hinge to allow air flow while angling any rain away.

Just trying to decide how big to go on the "monitor window".... maybe one transom type window ~48"x 12" centered and top hinged with a prop stick?....windows arent too big an issue i just replaced a bunch in my house that are antiques and will be able to repurpose them

Do you have a 48x12 transom window to repurpose?
Use what you have if they will fit.

Not exactly but I have a glass cutter, the wood working tools and a window I can cut down to use... if the 48' doesnt work out, i have a couple roughly 36"

Can be tricky 'cutting down' a window like that.
The joinery can be complex, but maybe you know that and are up to resizing them.

Can also be tricky to put windows in a small coop.
You want good ventilation and light,
but might want to keep some closed and others open,
depending on where the roost is and what the weather is like.
so smaller windows might be advantageous.

I can go to a smaller 36" window i want to do up top though because that will allow for the most natural light throughout the day and the best ventilation. I wanted to do only one up top for ease of opening. I also figured it would be a challenge but itll keep me busy lol
