Not poultry/livestock, etc. but we all love birds. <3 I've been trying to re-find something in the news a few months back on discoveries related to either toucan or hornbills--I believe it was "fringe-tongued toucans?" I was hearing that the tongue is so sensitive that the bird only needs to be in proximity of a food item to know that it's edible. The connection: I could be 10 feet away from 9 Volt (OEGB) with something and if he begged, he always ate whatever it was. If he didn't beg, chances were he wasn't even going to try it. He had a taste of cheesecake once (also read: ice cream, cottage cheese, peanut butter LOL) and the plates wouldn't even make it to the table before he was having an epic tantrum. He never seemed to nibble/taste, he just seemed to throw down on stuff he "knew" he would like. (BTW: he was allowed a nibble of nearly anything; we did not make a habit of filling his diet with empty calories)
