Milkweed is a plant that monarch butterflies love. They eat it and lay they're eggs on it. It's a green plant that is fuzzy. When a stem is broken a milky substance comes out of it. It get 3 - 4 inch purple flowers about August.

Yea I googled it a while back and I noticed there were some pinks, reds, yellows, orange and white ones. I just assumed they came in different colors?

It's a native plant here. It's purple. The seed pods are like a pointed cucumber or maybe a tiny ear of corn. When I was little, I'd break the pods open and let the seeds fly away on their fuzzy white fluff. This plant reseeds freely...so be careful about letting it go to seed in a tidy planting bed.
