My chicks are about a week old and I wanted to know if they could have treats and hoe to provide grit!

You can sprinkle some chick grit across the food like salt - don't give them a pan of it until they are at least a couple of weeks old or they might eat too much of it.

You can give them ultra short grass clippings (like, maybe 1/2 inch or shorter long)- not too long or it might give them impacted crop, just like ingesting too much grit can do.

They LOVE grass clippings. I start mine on them at about 1 week of age.

[/quote What can I use for grit?

I also give mine a few mealworms at that age. They can easily break the mealworms into pieces and swallow them. Good protein for them too!
