Trust issues with my thermometers...

My rates have increased a lot with the fan, and auto-turner, I just noticed a slight difference in temp in different locations. I just shuffle the eggs around every few days so that all the eggs are positioned in the warmer and cooler spots at some points during incubation. I do however find the fan can be a problem during hatch, especially with waterfowl as it tends to dry out the membranes faster. I solved this problem by buying another still air incubator and using that one for hatching, probably better to have a second incubator for hatch regardless. I always have a clean incubator, and a dirty incubator, and it enables me to successfully stagger-hatch.

I bought an old-fashioned baby thermometer (non-digital) and use that to test/calibrate the thermostats and other thermometers. I also bought a (much more expensive) Brinsea branded digital therm, and the results were the same. Though the Brinsea is easier to read.
