VSB door won't close without a nudge

I was so excited when I got my automatic door opener (same as Foy's, but ordered from Amazon and shipped from the UK) and it was working great for several months. Recently it has stopped shutting at night unless I give it a nudge, then the motor starts running and it shuts properly. It sounds like the string is really taut, and it slowly shuts. Without my help it would stay open all night. It does open properly in the AM. I contacted the company in the UK and they did not have any suggestions, just said it sounded like the door was working properly but I had installed something wrong. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm leaving town and my husband may not look after the girls as well as I hope. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is this a guillotine or swinging door? Is it inside the coop or outside? We need more information.
