We just adopted 9 two week old babes and their mom. I'm sure we'll see in due time, but at approximately what age should the mom be separated from the babies?

Why do you want to separate the mom? They can all grow up together without any problems, but chicks can be taken from their parents at any age if that is your choice. I would choose to leave them together.

There is no reason to remove the peeps from the mom if you are keeping them all. When she's done raising them she'll just start to ignore the fact they are around. I have one pullet who will run to defend one of her peeps when they are nearly as big as she is but for the most part they each do their own thing through the day.

These are my first babies, so I'm learning as I go. Guess I assumed that was the way it needed to be. I'm releived to know it isn't. Thank you!!
