I got bit by a gopher snake when I was 12, trying to get it off the road so it wouldn't get run over. I didn't even feel it, but my finger got all bloody. Barbed wire hurts way more.

Luckily, gopher snakes aren't poisonous.

Neither are those black bull snakes, Linda. Never have seen one of those. Don't think they live in California.
