Lo and behold - my picky hens who would ONLY eat the mixed grain type layer feed and would turn their beaks up to pellets or crumbles.....suddenly LOVE them because the newbies eat them! Nothing like some new sisters to chase away from the feeders to inspire an acquired taste LOL

I'm not surprised.. Whenever there is something being eaten,, other chickens come, and want it as well.
You could have gotten your picky girls to eat the crumbles, and pellets simply by offering only that. A time stretch of hunger does fantastic things to change opinions. ..
But I know how you are,,,,,,,, just like myself.. we our chickens.
