My husband and I live in Russellville, Arkansas. We recently bought a house that has an acre privacy fenced in for a backyard and half an acre for a front yard. We live in the country, but on a circle with lots of houses. We started off with 6 hens from TSC. 3 white Leghorns, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 RIR and 1 Barred Rock. Since then we've added 4 Pekin ducks, 2 Guineas, a white Leghorn rooster we saved after it was dyed blue for easter (one of our kids step parents bought it), 4 black ducks (breed unsure) and finally 2 Production Reds. We've only lost one Guinea, so now we are down to one. We wanted them for the egg production and to raise our children to love and respect animals. We've had a blast raising them all. We're in the process of building a pond for the ducks and soon we are getting a run large enough for us to build a larger coop so we can add more chickens. We're going to put the kids into 4H as well. We're really new to owning poultry so any advice or help is always greatly appreciated, thanks!
