what age to clip wings?

My chickies are 3 weeks old and I have one that is already flying wh on top of the water thingy. When should we clip wings to be sure they dont fly out of the brooder.
 
I hate the idea of clipping wings, especially for chicks. I know a lot of people do it, and it may be necessary, but I still don't like it. I am not saying it's wrong, and I am not trying to start an argument. So, I just make a wire cover for the brooder rather than clip their wings.
 
If theyre still in the brooder, save yourself some trouble and just put a top on it. At 3 weeks old, they still have some juvenile molts to go through, and it wont be long before you're clipping wings again :)

Thanks all! It is covered so it's just when we open the top. I guess we need to start using the side door. :)
