What breed could this be?

hi everyone, I got a mixed package of Rhode Island reds, red Sussex and black sexlink pullets, looks like they slipped a roo in, and they said it was a black star (black sexlink) hen, but I think they are wrong, it’s definitely a rooster, do you think it’s a Rhode Island Red? Aren’t black stars barred?

Hard to tell with the comb, he’s only 10 weeks. The hatchery doesn’t sell buckeyes. It’s a Canadian hatchery and as far a I know ther only choices would be rhodie, red Sussex, black sexlink (black star/red rock cross), barred rock or Columbus rock. Those are the only breeds in the package. Definitely not Columbian or barred.

That looks like a Rhode to me, unless it's a cross, the red sexlinks/black stars should only be one color.

Even at 10 weeks comb bud types are easily differentiated......if you arent sure take and post a photo of it and we can assess it for you.
