We bought amerucanas and one of them has these funny furry things on its face. They're supposed to be pullets.. Maybe this one is a roo? Or what?? Thanks

Ameracaunas are all supposed to have that. That looks like a female.i have a rooster and a hen.

This is my Ameracauna boy. Even at a younger age he had a pretty large comb and I think yours would be red by now if it was male.

It's pretty typical that we just call them all beards. But yes, the cheek part is the muffs. They are never seen without a beard.

An EE isn't a proper EE in my opinion without a beard/muffs. The bigger the better. I just love them.
