I would appreciate any suggestions! Super excited that all of it is done! 2 months in the making!!! We just need to cut the entry way into the coop and secure it.

How is ventilation?

We live in utah…so I wanted lots for summer, will close off the big ones and drafts in the winter.

Any tips would be great! I AM so EXCITED to move them in!

Thank you all!

We have 10 for now! Depending on any more Roos we get.

The coop itself 4x6x4 and the run is 6x8x7.

Thank you!

Is 6x4 counting the nest boxes? If so your actual coop is more like 6x3 which gives you 16sqft of coop space. Rule of thumb for the coop is 4sqft of unobstructed floor space pre bird, not including the nest boxes if those are on the floor. For 10 full size birds you need 40 sqft. In the summer, you might be ok, but during the winter when they just won't go outside because of the weather, your going to need more space.

Rule of thumb in the run is 10 square ft per bird. 10 birds= 100 sqft. Your at 48sqft. If you plan on free ranging, you could get away with less run space.

Thank you! researching I have gotten lots of mixed reviews on sq foot per bird. Everyone recommends different measurements. Lol

We will have probably 7-8 chickens when said and done.

1 Brahma 1 cochin and the rest are are bantams.

We planned on connecting the other small coop to the other side, (especially if we have to separate one for some reason) We did install the predator fence. before winter we can modify it. And possibly close up part of the run.

Not quite the minimum recommendations, might be some overcrowding but they might be just fine. What breeds do you have?

Can I ask what the ramp and platform are for in the coop? I would remove it and put the roosting bar (s) there.
Lol my husband decided to do that himself 🤣. I plan on doing perching all up top. The ladder is going in the run.

What do you reccomend for perching in the coop? I have dowel rods handy, also may do some natural branches.
