What is the deal with this chicks wing feathers? (maran chick)

I would like some advice on this chick. Do you think this is a deformity? Do you think his/her feathers will grow back later in life (like when it moults)? Is this something common with a name? Oh it might be helpful to add that this chick is approximately 2-3 weeks old. I have had them for one week and he was at least a week old at the time.

I don't know if Marans carry the slow feathering gene, but that's what that looks like to me. If that is the case, it is totally normal, and the feathers will just continue to grow.
