I've seen my chickens doing this 3 times. One of them was the 2nd biggest hen in with the smallest. The other 2 times I've seen were by the same chicken. Bendi, the biggest hen, who is a light Brahma that is very big and fat, must not be able to reach the 2nd row of nest boxes and when the bottom rows are full she just sits on the smaller hens. Ive also seen my young rooster in a box trying 5o be a hen
