You guys remember my chick with the backwards toes? Well this chick is his hatch mate. I only hatched out 4 chicks so 50% now have foot issues. :he
This one's foot is swollen so bad he can hardly walk and tries not to put pressure on it. I just now noticed because I was bathing him, he was filthy.
Anyone know what this is and how/can I help him?
Also, his breast bone sticks out a lot more than his hatch mates??
His breast feels like a ball under the skin I can move around??
His breast is to the side not middle??
Are these genetics issues?

Looks like Bumblefoot to me I would try soaking it’s feet in with some epson salts.

Thank you, that is what I just read also. Any ideas about the breast and breast bone?
It looks like it’s the crop which is their stomach pretty much That looks hard and not squishy did he/she just eat? If so wait 24hrs and re check to see if it empty’s if it remains hard it could be sour crop

I have lavender scented Epson salts, do you think that would be ok? Or I have sea salt
I never used scented because I’m not sure if it would cause a reaction to the chicken feet and I’ve never used salt but hopefully someone else will comment if they have tried either of those as a replacement

That looks an awful lot like frostbite to me... where are these chicks kept?
There's no way at all. They are in a closed in barn, no draft and waaay warmer than the outside. I have to take my gloves off in there cus my hands start to sweat
