what possible breed mix?

Hello!

I’ve got an OEGB rooster and some japanese white black tailed bantams that we’ve hatched babies from for two years now. this time around one of the babies has some feathers on her feet! since the day she hatched she’s had them and she’s going on 3 weeks old and still has them.

I’ve never had any of these babies have feathers on their legs at all. I also know that while my birds look as close to their breed “standard” that they are likely not purebred either. All the babies size, shape, posture, etc is identical to the parents so if they are mixed with anything else it is almost certainly bantam sized as well.

With that being said, is it possible for either of these breeds to get feathered feet ever? if not, what other breed could they possibly have in them? I thought maybe d’uccle but none of them have every been fluffy or bearded or resembled d’uccle in any other way.

also the chick that’s in the 1st and 3rd photo- I’m already knowing it’s looking a LOT like a cockerel, but i haven’t paid enough attention to how quick these bantam breeds mature so wanted a second opinion! lmk if you think my guess is correct or believe otherwise

Really tough to say without seeing the parents, but genetic anomalies happen sometimes. The one in the 1st and 3rd pictures is a cockerel. That comb don't lie.

The rooster doesn’t look like a pure OEGB. Do you have any pictures of any of their offspring grown up?

I can see no indications of mixing in those two, but they could have dormant genes for feathered legs that expressed itself in the one chick. Strange, but it can happen.

he almost definitely is not pure OEGB, i didn’t get him from a breeder or anything he was just gifted to me. I just don’t know what he could be mixed with so I say OEGB!
