This evening we went out well after dark to close up the coop. As we were walking away we heard a strangled chicken cry at the edge of the woods where the chickens normally hang out. I quickly looked in the coop and thought that one chicken was missing. We went looking and found nothing. After feeding the horses I went back to the coop and found the missing chicken wedged in a corner under another hen. So whatever we heard was not a chicken. I thought it sounded like a chicken in distress being strangled and more draw out. We are in northern new england. Locally we know of raccoons, fisher cats, bobcats, turkeys, porcupines. Any idea what it could have been?
