I have 5 adults hens and 1 rooster in the main coop right now.

On three of the back I noticed these last week...

Is this what they call rooster tracks caused by Mike the Knight (rooster)

It looks like over mating by the rooster, or could be feather picking by others or both. Trim your rooster's nails and file them if needed, and make sure they all are getting 16-20% protein in their food, plus plenty of room in the run.

They have layer pellets in the morning and have a 15 by 50ish pen for a run. Sometimes they come out into the yard if were outside.

I have 5 hens right now with 1 rooster. The others are not old enough to be with the big girls yet. I bought flannel and light weigh demin to sew them saddles this weekend. I think it will be to warm to make them flecee ones this time of year.
