Did I mention that we had the worst flea problem this past fall? Never had a problem before. I bet I know where they came from!!!

I just use the chicken feed they were eating as bait. Put a pile in the back, and a few pellets leading up to it from the door. They know the smell, and know it is good to eat. I place the trap along edges where they walk. I shoot them with a pellet rifle.

turn that compost, or maybe consider one of those compost barrels that is enclosed so the rats can't get into it. If they are under the compost, put glue traps under the compost too. Maybe consider getting rid of the compost altogether.

The compost feeds our vegetable garden but you are right, it is a big source of food and hiding spots for them. Compost piles are hard to turn in the winter, we do turn it in the summer loads though.
