what's the law

A year ago a baby wood duck was found and taken in.He has been with his family for a year now and is wonderful.my question is ,Is it against the law to keep him? They live in nebraska.I thought you could fill out a form and pay a fee,then he would get a number and a band.However,I have not found anything.If anyone knows it would really help

Depending on which county you're in, a call to the local Humane Society may get the information you need. I called WRT last year for advice on what to do about a bunny nest in the yard.
