When do Wyandottes generally start laying?

24/7 lights are not advisable for the flock since they will stress out and develop bad habits. Most battery (chicken egg mill) use the technique but they debeak their chickens and also retire them early for food/egg ratio (boils down to economic-money production)

Welp, here we are at week 20. They are getting more noisy when I am outside, and at least a couple of them are peering into the nest boxes I set up a week or two ago with the golf balls inside. Haven't noticed any particularly squatting-like behavior and they are not drinking as much water as I suspect a laying hen will. But maybe soon! We are moving in about 6 weeks, so I know that's going to put them off for a bit :(.

And here we are week 22 on the nose and we have our first egg! Looks to be abut a medium, and from appearances has good shell density and weight. I expect the other 3 hens will be getting fired up soon!
