Yesterday I bought some day-old Red Silkie chicks and last night I slipped them under my broody BO hen.
Yesterday while I was waiting for the sun to go down the chicks were eating and drinking a lot in their little cardboard box but today I've noticed they hardly ever come out from under their adopted mom.
I've seen one or two of them come out and take a drink but they haven't touched the feed and the hen hasn't moved off the nest at all.
This is my first time having a hen raise babies so I am not sure what is normal and what isn't or when/if I should intervene in any way.
